Cairns Family Therapy offers treatment to injured workers with Psychologist’s for WorkCover Queensland. We offer evidence-based psychological services like cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). These approaches have shown efficacy in treating various mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Returning to work can be a significant challenge for injured workers, and psychological treatment for some individuals can play an important role in their recovery. Psychological therapy, in some cases, may work towards a client’s goals to develop coping strategies and skills to work towards their recovery in the context of their work-related injury. This can sometimes include methods for managing stress, time management, and communication with colleagues and supervisors.
Referrals and bookings treatment
To book with Cairns Family Therapy through funding from WorkCover Queensland, you will need to have a General Practitioner (GP) referral. The referral process typically involves a consultation with the GP, who may determine whether psychological treatment is appropriate for your needs. They will also provide you with a referral letter for you to provide to us and WorkCover Queensland.
Once you have obtained a referral, you must seek approval from WorkCover Queensland before accessing psychological treatment funding. This typically involves submitting your referral and relevant medical documentation to WorkCover Queensland for review. We are happy to contact your case manager to seek this approval and provide them with the GP referral if you prefer.
It’s important to note that the referral and approval process may vary depending on your specific circumstances and the type of injury you have sustained. If you have questions about the referral and approval process, you should speak with your WorkCover Queensland case manager or another qualified person.
